The Living Condition
This video dives into the concepts of what it is to be a living being. It touches upon the basics of all life as to what is in common: movement, consuming, killing, excreting, mistakes, reproduction, and death, but through reproduction we evolve. To tell this story, I created a very basic abstract thing to represent a creature. It is my hope that by viewing this, the viewer would see themselves in it, much like hypochondriacs get when reading the symptoms of diseases. They would realize that we are not above nature but part of it. This video is the visual showing of the scientific basics of life.

Artist Statement
Of Light
As an artist I strive to try to show what I can, to let people know who I am a bit better than I would be able to any other way. My recent works have been an expression of the things in my life I hold true to me. In my art, I try to use a range of styles in getting my thoughts through; however, shocking and to-the-point is my favorite. My art tends to take on controversial subjects, such as religious, neo religious, philosophy, politics, and household little white lies.
As humans move forward in communication tech, we are finding it not only easier to feel a part of the community, but value in communication objects are losing financial value. I feel that is this communication age we have the opportunity to purify art from the greedy world. If art of high caliber and meaning is placed up on the web for anyone to see for free, it is pure communication. Yes there will be ads, but this doesn't always have to be the case.
I am finding that my art is taking on a very Daoism-like tone. I want to create something that makes the opposite be emphasized. This is a very passive way of art and communication, which is hard to accomplish. Being very Daoist, I find the opposite to be the attractive as well. I take on the tactics of the Feminist art movement, and strive to desensitize people to things like guns and slaughter houses. While it is much more striking, it is still a somewhat passive communication.
This is taking advantage of an individual's own environment and experiences to make him think. This, to me, is deeper than a simple picture, as it becomes deeply interactive. It takes up more than just the senses, but forces deeper thought processes to happen.
I too have a political calling, and feel that this needs to be expressed in art. Not so much propaganda, but works that make you think about the subjects. My favorite subject was the corrupt war in Iraq; but due to political tides changing, I feel this is less of an issue as the damage is already done.
So art has become my life. I am using it to try and express myself in new and different ways. While I may not be able to live off of making art, I will still continue to make it to try can get people to think more, and possible in new and different ways.
This video The Living Condition, is my recent attempt to show that we are living things. We are animals, and as being such, we need to address these things and not rebel or oppress them as this is who we are. So oppressing these fact we are oppressing ourselves from not being what we are.
